The inspiration for SJURecord was calligraphic lettering used for the title of a student newspaper, St. John’s Record, during the late 1920s and early 1930s. The three upper-case and nine lower-case letters were considerably different from any calligraphic lettering I had developed, so I thought creating a complete typeface around these twelve letters would be an interesting challenge. SJCRecord has only one weight but has a large array of accented characters.
A monospace cousin is the perfect addition to our existing Lexia family, a contemporary slab-serif design with remarkable versatility. Lexia Mono was drawn specifically with programmers and designers who work with tough compositional issues in mind. Its clean, uninterrupted rhythm and even colour make it remarkably easy to read, while its characters flow just like on a typewriter. Unlike many monospace font families which consist of only Regular and Bold weights, Lexia Mono also features a Light, stylish true italics, and box-drawing characters for terminal use.
Inspired by the blocky charm of historical geometric slab serifs, Mokoko combines a timeless look with progressive technology in multiple weights and styles. Supporting all European languages using the Latin script, and with seven weights ranging from Thin to Black with matching italics, Mokoko is as functional as it is characterful. Its heavy weights lend themselves to bold displays while the lighter weights are more discreet and functional, supporting long-form text.
The letters in Bouncer are round because they all begin as a ball and then have parts of the ball cut away. Bouncer was one of the earliest typefaces from Ingrimayne Type. Lower-case letters are smaller versions of the upper-case letters.
BouncerTwo, designed twenty years after the original Bouncer, continues playing with the idea of making letters by cutting out parts of a circle, but in this case the circles are interlocking. All letters are upper-case but some of those on the lower-case keys differ from those on the upper-case keys. BouncerTwo is eye-catching but not highly legible.
